A trip to London
Generally the conference was about Mobile Web 2.0 - a term i find highly amusing :-) I mean people are barely able to do more sophisticated stuff on their phone than text someone or make a call - but already we are seeing mobile web 2.0... I didn't even know we had seen mobile web 1.0 ...
But I did see one really cool company demonstrate a new device :-) A Win CE device with a rollable plastic screen ... That was really sweet :-) The whole device was like the sice of a phone and when you rolled the screen out it had what looked like a 5 inch screen :-) That looked like technology you could do interesting things with...
I also had the pleasure of going by Adobe and meeting with Mark - who as always shows up for work around 11 and it's just great to see that the term "corporate" does not apply to all Adobe employees :-) Am really looking forward to seeing some of the things we discussed live :-) And am really happy that it seems Adobe are in no way letting mobile get away from them :-) I just wish sometimes they would get out into the real world and see what people actually need... And that maybe they would be a little less US-centric - I mean there is actually quite a lot more FL enabled devices floating around Europe than in the US :-)
Anyways - London was fun and there are always business opportunities floating around at conferences like that - so hopefully we'll end up seeing some of that soon ...

Roskilde Festival goes mobile!
like this
:The application features:
- an RSS feedreader with the lates Roskilde news (live now)
- A game (sort of a cross between "spin the bottle" and truth or dare", where you can also submit your own dares, and then other users can try them out
- A link to this years humanitatarian project called "Fair Phone - Fair Future, aiming to secure the working conditions of the poor african miners who are exploited (did you ever see "Blood Diamonds?) by greedy mineral suppliers to the mobile industry.
- The ability to broadcast yourself on the big screen via SMS or MMS messages.
- The festivals programme and information about who is playing where
The only thing live now is the feed reader as this festival doesn't open until 2 months from now - but already the app is being circulated on Facebook and Myspace amongst Roskilde festival fans.
As soon as we have live info from the real world i'll post it here
Keep up the good spirits and be sure to check out this app :-)

LBI + Adobe + MWC + Barcelona = WAUW!
We had at a blast with Adobe at MWC. And for those of you not there or just interested I am going to run through it here - day by day - and try to put into perspective what it means to a small company like ourselves to play in the major league for a week.
Day 1 - Monday morning. Early. Way to early.
We arrive at the booth - me and my colleague Frederik who is responsible for handling our sales. The booth is empty but we figure the nice dutch crew cleaning it can help us. And they do. Help us getting set up.
Slowly familiar faces show up and before long the entire Adobe crew is present at the booth. The show is starting. You can feel the tension and energy starting to rise in the hall.
And slowly people start coming by asking questions. Looking around for that interesting thing they just cannot live without. Fortunately a lot of the stuff we are showing seems to be catching peoples eyes and we hand out give aways and talk to maybe 15 people during those first 2 hours.
Then our colleagues and co conspirators from Blue Sky North/Smashing Ideas show up. It's their turn at the booth. Time to step down and enjoy the show before we present on stage at the booth at 11:20.
Lots of interesting contacts already on the first day - and a fine debut for our Paradise Hotel application which I decided to demo live on stage at its first official premiere - the system had not been tested and the c
So of course i decided to demo it live and online:-)
But everything worked like a charm and we were able to show a fast and persistent data connection and some really cool functionality. All in all a really cool opening day which also got us a good contact with a danish national newspaper who ran a long article on us a couple of days later.
For those interested it can be seen here: http://www.business.dk/article/20080213/techmobil/80213097/
And then came Tuesday.
Another early start for LBI. And another fine day. Everything progressed as planned and we started meeting alot of the developer community as well as the other partners at the booth.
01design showed some really cool stuff and Adobe kept awing the crowd with their project with MTV and Flash Home - the "Spongebob" themed home screen.
What can I say. I want one. Now!
On this day we collected some 20 business cards and a lot of them have since turned into firm contacts who we are now talking to about different projects. Both on the developing side of things but also in our capacity as a Flash Lite training facility.
And as if this wasn't enough Adobe had invited us to a party on tuesday evening. Very classy at the hotel "Casa Fuster" - http://www.hotelcasafuster.com/ I think I can safely recommend this if you are ever in Barcelona - and have recently won the lottery :-) It was a great evening with free drinks and entertainment - lots of fun :-)
Wednesday:
Hangover day for some - the party the night before definately had left some marks on some people... I know that one of our favourite evangelists had either gone home to Ireland or maybe he was of at an important meeting with some very important Chinese clients... :-)
But the day started as promising as it had on Tuesday. Lots of interest. Lots of people stopping by and talking. And the mood at the booth had turned into a very cozy and relaxed atmosphere - maybe the drinks from the night before ahd something to do with the new found familiarity ... We gathered another 20 contacts and we still presenting on stage twice daily - the presentation seemed to flow much better with practice somehow - and we got a lot of interesting questions and I feel we were able to promote ourselves as well as Adobe Flash Lite :-)
See the presentation we did here: http://www.lbi.dk/mwc2008/præsentation.swf
And of course - we were with Adobe - so another party on wednesday night - at a really cool local bar/tapas restaurant - free beer and wine and food - and all of the developer community in Barcelona were there as well as all of the Adobe crew. It was a blast. And I am sure the reason for the way Ugur's hair looked on thursday is to be found at that bar and a lot of red wine... Also I seem to recall something about Bill drinking a very local drink in some exotic glass contraption that may even have been tough to handle while completely sober...
Thursday:
Last day - we were all really tired - but still at the booth at 9 am and ready to go.
It was obvious that this would be a long day. A lot of people ahd already left Barcelona and it felt like we were trying to hold up the fort. I guess 4 days is a long time to be at a show like MWC. Still there was interest and we managed to gather 5-10 more contacts and people wanting to talk to us about Flash Lite. We also had some good talks with 01 design about trying to help each other out in the sales situations and share experiences and learnings. And we had good laughs with Allessandro, Mark, Paul and Ugur about just about everything :-)
And for my last thing i promised Brian Frank from Adobe to post this image.
This is the mail that started it all for LBI. And it was from Brian. (Who by the way is amazing at keeping up the good spirits while presenting for no audience what so ever :-P). So Brian - here is the proof. It actually is on my wall - and my brother has the framed version on his wall...
So you are a very important person at LBI - maybe i should underline the mail with a nameplate syaing "Our Founder" ? :-)
If you have actually managed to read this all the way through let me extend my most sincere apologies to you for not being more brief - but there were a lot I had to leave out even - MWC was just amazing for LBI.
And let me invite you all to come visit us in Denmark - if ever your way comes by Denmark - all of you that were present - i am sure you all know who you are (if you don't, let me recommend you visiting a shrink). Our doors are always open and I hope to be seeing you all again very soon.

Taking it all in stride!
We have signed contracts with actual paying clients, who have bought into the fact that we are creating something way cooler than "just" wap sites. (keep in mind that the screenshots here are just demos and not exactly the actual implemented portals)
On monday the 11th of february at the Adobe stand at MWC in Barcelona we will have a world premiere on an application for a reality TV show that allows users to engage with their favourite show in between shows and during shows. It will all be centered around a Flash Lite application developed by Little Big Ideas. It will be heavily promoted both on Web and on TV and will be the first activity we have created for public mass market use. Since it contains a lot of SMS based activities and a lot of added value content and extras you can actually get downloaded to your own handset I believe we have created something that really shows off the power of Flash Lite...Ohhh and it's done in FL 1.1 and runs in browser, fullscreen on a gazillion handsets :-) (unfortunately Denmark isn't on the map for Adobe, and so was not part of the excellent chart Bill Perry published a little while back about the penetration of FL handsets - but I find that saying it's out on a gazillion handsets tend to make clients happy :-))Also this summer we will develop, and host an application for a large danish music festival called "Roskilde Festival" Again an application allowing users to engage in their activity of choice in a new and more fun way using their mobile phone :-)
This app - also done in FL 1.1 btw -will be pre released in a favourite social network near you around april 1st (and no - it's not a joke*G*)So the point is - things are looking up :-) And we are getting good press, good contacts and good vibes every day :-)
And thanks to our friendly neighbourhood software dealers, Adobe, we are now also going to be presenting at the Adobe Booth at MWC in Barcelona as well as giving theater presentations. So if you are in the vicinity drop by the Adobe booth and I'll be more than happy to show you these apps in real life - and if you cannot wait and just want a little more, point your phone towards http://wap.lbi.dk/goodie and download our mobile brochure/portal/site/thingymajig...
Keep fighting the good fight and lets show the world why Flash Lite is just the best way to create compelling, engaging mobile experiences...
